About Me
Hi there my name is Beverley and this is my blog!
Now if you are here it means you want to get to know me so I am in my 40’s and I have suffered with my illnesses for so long now that I sometimes forget that other people do not feel how I do. I spend much of my time in my house with my dog Gizmo who I spoil and talk to all the time (I swear he does understand English). He is a Shih Tzu and very small so I can carry him and take him on short walks when I am having a good day, though he is more than happy to just lay on the sofa beside me.
I have been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Ankylising Spondolisis, chronic depression, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder. However, I am much more than my illnesses, I have a You Tube channel (link is up there), and I am on a spiritual journey learning to be a medium, and using crystals and meditation to grow as a person and cope with my illnesses.
When I am having a good day I love to practice yoga to keep my body supple and help cut down the number of cramps I have. It also helps to keep me fit and help me to get stronger,I practice Yin Yoga and it has helped with my vertigo and balance issues. It is one of the best things I have tried and though there are times I cannot practice yoga I will always do it whenever I can.
I am also learning to knit and crochet at the moment, and to make greetings cards, to do photography as well as hoping to learn to use my sewing machine in the future. I find that they help with my hands, and though I shake a lot sometimes it focuses my mind and helps me to not get bored when I am well enough to tackle them. Though my pain means I cannot do them for long I am so glad I decided to not let my illnesses stop me from learning new skills!
I am a total geek I love my favourite actors and I have an extensive Netflix watchlist which really comes in handy on bad days when I can curl up in bed and watch something. I love to go to conventions, and signings to meet my favourite actors a hobby I have been doing since 2002! I have been so lucky over the years and I have some wonderful memories and really cool friends because of it!
I am really lucky to have a wonderful husband Lee who takes care of me when I am sick and supports me in all my hobbies. We live in a small house in the country and we are really lucky to live close to lots of trees and beautiful countryside that we can enjoy. I cannot walk far but it is lovely to get out of the house into the fresh air.
This blog is about my journey trying to find ways to cope with my illnesses, my journey learning how to cook and how to take care of myself. I am trying to not have so many chemicals in my life by cooking from scratch…but on the other side of the coin I started to love make up and am learning how to apply it and use it. I am a woman of contradictions and can be very silly and funny at times so come with me now on a journey through ti…no that’s Mighty Boosh! Yeah just look forward to getting to know you all!
